Wondering where in the U.S. you should be traveling in 2015? The New York Times, Jetsetter, Travel + Leisure, Conde Nast Traveler and many other websites released their lists over the past two weeks, with destinations across the country. Here are some highlights from their picks, as well as a few spots I'm keen on traveling to as well.
Philadelphia (New York Times) for a reworked waterfront, new art installations, refurbished parks and a new bike share program
Yellowstone National Park (New York Times) for new in-park lodging, plus cross-country ski and wildlife watching trips
Orlando (New York Times) not just about Disney World anymore, thanks for a new performing arts center, East End Market's food stalls, James Beard-nominated dining options and a new Four Seasons Resort. Jetsetter also did a great roundup recently of adult activities in Orlando.
Steamboat Springs (New York Times) this year marks the 100th anniversary of this Colorado town, the oldest continually operating ski area in the state. This February they'll host a Winter Carnival to celebrate
Cleveland (New York Times, Travel + Leisure) making a name for itself with cutting edge cuisine and an up-and-coming arts scene
Wasatch Mountains (Travel + Leisure) new restaurants, high speed lifts and Vail's Epic Pass puts this Utah region at the top of this year's ski destinations
Miami (New York Times, Jetsetter) A booming hotel scene that's growing even further this year including Ian Schrager's Edition
Palm Springs (Travel + Leisure) The arrival of Sparrow Lodge and the opening of the Architecture and Design Center were notable in 2014, and you can expect more new hotel openings this year including one from Dolce
Cincinnati (Jetsetter) The Backstage District impresses with the Contemporary Arts Center, 21C Museum Hotel and Cincinnati Shakespeare Co., plus a slew of topnotch restaurants connected by the city's four-mile long Oasis bike and pedestrian trail
Kauai (Jetsetter) Expect to see a huge uptick in visitors to this stunning Hawaiian island after the summer release of Jurassic World, much of which was filmed throughout Kauai
The Catskills - I wrote about the Catskills a few times last year and there are so many reasons to go, from the new Hotel Dylan, hip getaway Graham & Co., to a weekend in Woodstock with fashion-forward restaurants like Cucina, to the new Deer Mountain Inn (the New York Times and Travel + Leisure agree, too)
Big Sur - If you haven't been to this stunning part of California, make 2015 the year you go. Check out what to do over a weekend there, plus a post on fantastic, eco-friendly lodging overlooking the Pacific at Treebones
